Just Desserts
Home they brought a pizza hot;
She just moaned and heaved a sigh.
Anxiously her parents thought,
She must eat or she will die!
Then they added chilli flakes,
Mayonnaise - to heck with weight!
Heaps of french fries and milkshakes;
Yet she neither drank nor ate.
Rose her aunt, the nasty sort,
Smelled a rat (or so she said)
"Ha!" she said "Tis as I thought,
Look what I found 'neath her bed!"
"Creamy truffles steeped in rum,
Caramels and chocolate fudge.
Marzipan and bubble gum,
Strewth!No wonder she can't budge!"
Read the original poem by Tennyson here.
Wishful thinking on my part. The only bit that isn't pure imagination are the last two verses. I'd have problems picturing the first two.
Heaps of french fries... sigh.

Uhm... that's it? Nice but rather short, as your poems go. I'd have liked it a lil longer.
The original poem by Tennyson does have just four verses....
LOL! good parody!
LMAO!!!!!!
can't stop laughing here. i'll get to sleep.
Good one... So how were the truffles, caramels and fudge?
very funny, also quite implausible, there are only about 3 people in this world who would reject pizza with heaps of fries and what not.
I'm linking to your blog.
Priya, Butterknife,
The best sort of comments.
Fleiger,
I'll never know, will I? I woke up much too soon.
:(
Couch Critic,
Why, thank you.
;)
Yes, it is unlikely. Downright impossible rather. How far could I stretch the term 'poetic licence'? I wonder. Which three do you speak of? Surely, there must be time to save their souls?
Aah, the perils of waking up. Why do we spend so much time awake?
And was this in connection to a recent event?
Nice poem :)
Fleiger,
Getting out of bed wasn't my idea.
;)
Sriram,
Welcome to Pixie Dust.
And thank you.
:)
:) yummy verse. And love the pic. Way to go! Mmm, been out of circulation for a long bit now. But with some personal affairs slowly falling into place, I expect I will be back to do my two bits to pollute the goodly digital environs soon. Thanks and cheers.

Good job!
I love Tennyson, and I'm afraid I've missed this charming piece. I'll need to go back to my lit professor and complain for the omission.
You inspire me to work on something whimsical. Perhaps in a later post I'll come up with something.
Fleiger,
Oh well. If you insist. But they say such wonderful things about my blog and writing...
:(
